Our Lady's College, Greenhills is a Roman Catholic all-girls college located in Greenhills, Drogheda, County Louth, in the Republic of Ireland. The College is run under the auspices of the Presentation Sisters. ==History== The school was originally founded in 1940 by the Presentation Sisters. The present building was opened in 1964 with the financial assistance of Cardinal Cushing, who was the Archbishop of Boston at the time. The name "Greenhills" was originally attributed to local businesswoman Hannah Greene, who was renowned for her generosity in the area and solely funded the installation of the stained glass windows in the chapel. Her portrait hangs in the main hall. In 1979, it is believed that Pope John Paul II visited the school to use the gents' bathroom. Although there is no proof, local actor Pierce Brosnan proclaimed it in an interview with Jay Leno in 1995. The school is reputed for its yearly Tug of War competition, in which all students from County Louth compete against all students from County Meath. The Meath team has only won once since 1952. In 1986 control of the school was passed to a Board of Management, and in 2008 to CEIST (Catholic Education Irish Schools Trust).〔(Our Lady's College, Greenhills, Drogheda ), Catholic Education an Irish Schools Trust.〕 However, Our Lady's retains its cultural and historical links with the network of Presentation Sisters schools in Ireland and around the world.〔(About Greenhills ), Our Lady's College〕 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Our Lady's College, Greenhills」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
